Case Study

Northampton International Academy

Client: Northamptonshire County Council
Main Contractor: Vinci Construction
Architect: Architecture Initiative
Value: £225k

Project Overview

Northampton International Academy is one of the largest School Conversion projects in the country, transforming the derelict Royal Mail building in Barrack Road into a modern, 21st Century School.

The need for Blade Flooring came from a late change in flooring specifications on the project by the client. The project was always challenging and under pressure and this late change did not help.

Blade were contacted late July to see if we could assist in completing the mammoth task ahead where we were required to supply and install 4000m2 of Tarkett vinyl, 1000m2 of Desso carpet Tiles and 250m2 of plain Tarkett linoleum. All this on top of providing a suitable substrate as the existing substrates were either failing or not a suitable standard to receive floor coverings.

The installation of Sika Renotex renovation screed provided a perfect substrate on which to lay new flooring which mitigated the risk of the existing substrate failing. We also provided our Hygienic Wall Cladding Services.

Needless to say, Blade completed the works within five weeks to an exceptionally high standard.

Vinci Project Manager

Blade Flooring were extremely user friendly, flexible and accommodating. They played a significant part in ensuring the project was handed over on time and to a high standard. I would have no hesitation on using them on future projects or recommending them to others.
